DENVERBCER, a Denver-based full-service MEP engineering, technology, and life safety firm, today announced the acquisition of SSG MEP, a professional engineering firm focused on electrical and lighting design services.

“We are thrilled to announce that Sandra Scanlon and her team at SSG will be joining BCER,” said Steve Rondinelli, CEO of BCER. “The addition of SSG will enhance our electrical engineering capabilities, expand our team of lighting experts, bolster our lighting design studio and strengthen BCER’s work in the transportation sector, while also introducing new energy and
diversity to the BCER family.”

SSG MEP president and founder Sandra Scanlon launched her electrical engineering firm 20 years ago with the goal of providing a highly responsive, team-oriented approach to electrical solutions. Over the past two decades, she and her team have provided electrical, lighting and low voltage systems design for new and remodeled facilities within medical, municipal, educational, commercial and transit facilities, highways, roadways and streetscape sectors.

Scanlon is a well-respected industry leader who has served in a variety of industry leadership positions, both locally and nationally, and brings a strong client roster, talented team of engineers, and impeccable professional reputation to the BCER team. She will now serve as associate principal and head of BCER’s electrical engineering team. SSG MEP employees will join the BCER team at the company’s Arvada headquarters and will operate under the BCER name beginning August 31.

Over the past 23 years, BCER has provided high-quality engineering, technology, and life safety services for built environments across the Rocky Mountain Region and nationwide, while forging
committed relationships with clients and colleagues. BCER continues to grow and broaden the company’s services through strategic acquisitions, and through hiring a strong staff that brings diverse perspectives to the company and project solutions. Together, BCER and SSG employ more than 100 people and serve more than 500 clients.

“I have had the pleasure of working alongside BCER on various projects throughout my career and look forward to being a part of this talented and well-respected team,” said Scanlon. “I am
excited about the increased project and professional growth opportunities this acquisition will provide for members of the SSG team, and we look forward to offering our clients the expanded services and capabilities that will come from joining forces with BCER. Our companies both share an uncommon commitment to delivering outstanding client work and to measuring our success by the quality and depth of our relationships, and I am excited for opportunities this acquisition offers for both our employees and our clients.”

Congratulations all around. Lighting design is an unusual ballywick in these times. Sometimes it’s in the electrical engineering (groups) departments, and sometimes within an architecture group… or sometimes, like in SoCal, a new powerhouse firm on its own. Great that BCER took it ‘in-house’ and good luck competing in this new and necessary market!
