Commercial Real Estate Forum Focuses on Redevelopment of North Denver
August 15 @ 7:30 am - 9:30 am$40 - $70
The 2017 Commercial Real Estate Forum, hosted by the U.S. Green Building Council Colorado (USGBC Colorado) community, will take place Tuesday, August 15 at the Colorado State University Denver Center located at 475 17th St., 2nd Floor, Denver, CO 80202.
During this year’s Forum, “Wanted: Transformative Development in North Denver,” participants will hear from a panel of commercial real estate professionals, green building experts and the key partners involved in this redevelopment project for a discussion about how sustainability will be interwoven into existing buildings, and will help redefine the neighborhood.
This topic is of particular importance given that recent policy decisions on the national level, including pulling out of the Paris Climate Accord, has left local government and private businesses to take the lead on advancing sustainability. In the commercial real estate industry, developers know that sustainably built housing is not only good for communities, but green buildings drive higher market prices and economic growth. According to an economic impact study, between 2015 and 2018, green construction in Colorado will create 281,000 jobs and contribute $23.92 billion to the state GDP.
- David Zucker, Chief Executive Officer, Zocalo Community Development
- Jocelyn Hittle, Director of Denver Operational Initiatives, Colorado State University
- Mike Biselli, President, Catalyst Health Tech – Moderator
The conversation will directly address the project’s sustainability goals. Attendees will learn why specific historic buildings are razed and rebuilt, and understand how a project’s overall goal plans to activate a space that’s unoccupied for months at a time.
