General Ironworks manufacturing facility — located between Broadway and South Santa Fe Drive south of Yale Avenue — was closed for business in 1986 and since then the land formerly occupied by the industrial property has been poised for development.

Pre-sale operations began this month for a project called Ironworks Village that will include 136 housing units, including single-family homes, townhomes, duplexes and condos, to be built by Denver-based Blvd Builder.

The new community falls right along the RTD Light Rail’s C and D lines, which travel along South Santa Fe Drive and take riders to Denver Union Station and the heart of downtown Denver.
