JOHNSON NATHAN STROHE, a Denver-based architecture and interior design firm specializing in hospitality, urban housing and mixed-use projects, has added three new members to its growing team.

Interior Designer Kayla McVey joins the firm with five years of experience in restaurants, retail and boutique hotel design. She has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Kendall College of Art and Design.

The firm has also added two new intern architects. Sindhuri Patllola joins the firm with three years of experience in commercial and residential projects. She has a master’s in architecture from the University of New Mexico and a bachelor’s in architecture from Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University.

Carrie Cardona also joins the firm with three years of experience in multifamily development. She has a master’s in architecture from the University of Colorado at Denver and a bachelor’s in architecture from the University of Virginia.

American Institute of Architects Colorado Announces Two New Hires

American Institute of Architects (AIA) Colorado has hired two new staff members: Carin Poland as the executive and program assistant and Marisa Pooley as the marketing and communications manager.

Poland has an extensive background in program management, formerly the senior program manager and global grants manager at Western Union Foundation and a member of the Western Union Global Business Intelligence Team. Prior to that, Poland served as the consumer insights manager for the Coors brands portfolio at Coors Brewing Company. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Miami University, and is currently a program committee chairperson for the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Grants Managers Network.

“Carin is a detail master and has a great understanding of program management and administration,” said Cathy Rosset, CEO of AIA Colorado. “She is a great addition to the AIA team.”

Marisa Pooley joins AIA Colorado with experience in communications and marketing in a variety of industries including nonprofit/private foundation, tourism and professional sports. Most recently, Pooley was the strategic communications coordinator for the Boettcher Foundation, a privately endowed foundation which invests in Colorado and its residents. She also worked as a strategic communications consultant for Montevibiano—the first zero-emissions vineyard in Italy. Pooley is very involved in the community, and has served on various committees and boards, including as the at-large director on the AIA Denver board from 2015 to 2016. A Colorado native, Pooley is a University of Denver graduate and a Boettcher Scholarship recipient.

“We are thrilled to have Marisa join AIA,” said Rosset. “Her talent in communications and marketing will help us to recruit and retain members and continue providing value to Colorado architects.”

MEP Engineering announces the promotion of Mardi Jones to the Senior Operations Team

MEP Engineering is pleased to announce the promotion of Mardi Jones to the firm’s Senior Operations Team and the position of Senior Electrical Engineer.

As a member of the senior operations team, she will be responsible for the management of project teams and overall project workload. In conjunction with the Quality Control department, she also performs quality control checks, reviews code studies, reviews cost estimates and assists in making system selections with project engineers to ensure a client centric approach to each project. Mardi provides natural ability as a teacher, leading the firm’s internal mentoring and training programs.

Mardi has more than eight years of experience in the engineering field and over 11 years of experience in the Telecommunications/Information Technology industry. Mardi coordinates, produces and designs all electrical and lighting systems. Her skills include production of construction plans, system specifications and cost analysis while maintaining building code requirements.  She has worked on scores of projects for clients in commercial real estate, education, healthcare, hospitality, industrial real estate, public/civic, religious institutions, restaurants and residential.

Mark Jelinske Joins The RMH Group as the Firm’s New Chief Mechanical Engineer

The RMH Group (RMH) is proud to announce that Mark Jelinske, P.E., has joined the firm to serve as its new Chief Mechanical Engineer. With more than 30 years of experience in mechanical engineering, Jelinske brings to the firm a broad base of knowledge with numerous project types including healthcare, laboratories, higher education, office buildings, hospitality, and historic renovations.

Jelinske’s insight into total building design and operation is well reflected by his professional licensing in both the mechanical and fire protection engineering disciplines. He formerly served as President and Director of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Jelinske also served on the 2016 Denver Building Code Committee and Task Force and is a member of the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control Life Safety Section Appeals Board. He earned a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri.
