GH Phipps Joins the Colorado Springs Police Department for Ribbon Cutting of New Sand Creek Substation

GH Phipps has successfully completed the new Sand Creek Substation for the Colorado Springs Police Department. The general contractor was joined by Mayor John Suthers, police commander Scott Whittington, DLR Group (the architect for the building) and various members of the police department and local community for a ribbon cutting to commemorate the event.

The 38,000-square-foot building is the largest Colorado Springs Police Department Substation, and is twice the size of the original building that was constructed in 1988. The new building will be able to better accommodate the needs of the rapidly growing community.

The building itself is a one level police substation with a separate maintenance building and car wash building with fuel island. The building includes 12 holding cells, an increase from three in the current facility; a briefing room; community rooms for meetings; sally port; security cameras throughout the property and facility and a secure parking lot for CSPD staff and cruisers.

“This was a very fulfilling project for our team and exemplifies our expertise in delivering outstanding law enforcement facilities to the people of Colorado,” said Jim Martin of GH Phipps.  “Colorado’s growing population is putting greater demand on our local governments to provide the very best public service facilities.  We’re proud of our ability to help meet this demand by providing a team of professionals who are able to complete projects on time, on budget and deliver an exceptional building experience.”
