JHL Constructors has been named ENR’s 2022 Mountain States Contractor of the Year and is highlighted in the August issue. According to Jennifer Seward, editor ENR Mountain States, JHL was chosen because of its revenue growth and company culture.

“We are humbled to be recognized,” said JHL President Ben Stellor. “This award acknowledges JHL’s talented team and the success of our projects and clients. This is something for our team to celebrate.”  Stellor has spent his entire career with JHL. He leads the second generation of employee-owners.

In the recognition article, ENR touts JHL’s dedication to relationships and vibrant culture. “Our brand promise is doing the right thing, always. We hold our reputation above all else and are grateful for our long-term, repeat clients,” said Stellor.

In an uncertain market, JHL has worked to have an impact. While JHL may be best known for vertical building in the K-12 market, about 40 percent of revenues are coming from horizontal infrastructure work. “We took a risk by self-performing our first infrastructure project. The opportunity left us ready to do more,” Stellor said.

The infrastructure team works in water, mining, land development and transportation, and is working on one of the largest earth-moving projects in Colorado: Aurora Highlands. By diversifying client offerings JHL has been able to offer more to current clients, as well as grow a portfolio of new clients.

“As we continue to grow, we will focus on what’s important – mentoring our up-and-coming leaders and being sure to reward all team members for their contributions to our success,” said Stellor.
