Simon, a real estate investment trust that owns and operates premier shopping, dining, entertainment and mixed-use destinations, has announced a more than $250 million investment program that will include a major reinvestment in Cherry Creek Shopping Center, Denver’s most prominent luxury retail destination.
The capital program follows Simon’s full acquisition of Cherry Creek Shopping Center from Taubman Realty Group in November, after which the company assumed full management and leasing control. The Denver property will be part of a broader redevelopment effort that also includes assets in Nashville and Tampa.
“This investment reflects Simon’s focus on strategic redevelopments that create vibrant, modern environments for today’s shopper,” said Eli Simon, chief operating officer. “Building on the success of projects like Southdale Center, we’re bringing the same disciplined curation, design focus and long-term investment mindset to Cherry Creek and a select group of iconic properties.”
At Cherry Creek Shopping Center, Simon plans a statement-making redevelopment designed to elevate the guest experience while reinforcing the center’s long-standing reputation as the Rocky Mountain region’s leading address for luxury retail. Planned improvements include modernized flagship spaces, refined architectural updates and upgraded storefronts, all aimed at enhancing four-season shopping for both local customers and visiting shoppers.
Beyond Denver, Simon will also invest in The Mall at Green Hills in Nashville and International Plaza in Tampa, where the company plans extensive exterior and interior transformations. Those projects are intended to strengthen each center’s position within its respective market while aligning with Simon’s broader vision for experiential, design-forward retail destinations.
“These centers are already among the top retail destinations in the country,” said Eric Sadi, co-president of North American Real Estate. “Our focus is on sharpening their differentiation through flagship opportunities, elevated design and an enhanced overall guest experience.”
