Denver’s City Council has taken a significant step forward in expanding Denver International Airport’s capacity, approving a seven-year, $700 million contract with V-1 Consultants to advance the Concourse C-West expansion on Monday, January 5, 2026.

The approved resolution authorizes the city to move ahead with a program management services agreement to support planning and early development efforts for the project, which will add approximately 400,000 square feet of new space to the western end of Concourse C. This expansion is designed to support up to 11 additional aircraft gates, new concessions areas, and enhanced passenger amenities—including outdoor areas with sweeping views of the Rocky Mountains—as DIA continues to respond to increasing air travel demand.

Funded through airport revenue and project financing, this initiative is part of DIA’s long-range Vision 100 strategy, which aims to position the airport to serve 100 million annual passengers in the years ahead. DIA already handled a record number of travelers in recent years, highlighting the need for expanded gate capacity and improved facilities.

The contract approved by council will bring in specialized project management support to oversee scheduling, design coordination, cost planning, and stakeholder engagement as the airport advances toward the next stages of design and construction. Completion of the Concourse C-West expansion is projected around 2030–2031, aligning with broader airport growth plans. Colorado General Assembly

This expansion not only adds capacity for airlines and passengers but also reinforces Denver’s role as a major national travel hub and economic driver for the region.
