A new rule in Denver as of December 2016, requires all commercial buildings in Denver — that are 50,000-square-feet or larger — to benchmark their energy-efficiency ratings. Property owners had until June 1 to comply with the new rule, but a 90-day grace period is now in effect. Owners that do not comply will be fined $2000.
