Global home furnishings retailer IKEA is preparing to expand its Colorado footprint with a new small-format store planned in Fort Collins, marking the brand’s first location in Northern Colorado. The company announced the project as part of its broader U.S. growth strategy, which prioritizes accessibility and proximity to customers rather than relying exclusively on traditional warehouse-style destinations.
According to 9News, the 64,000-square-foot IKEA will be located at the Front Range Village Shopping Center at 4250 Corbett Drive, and will be significantly smaller than the company’s typical big-box locations.
Despite challenging external factors, including increased inflation and waning consumer confidence, IKEA U.S. reported $5.3 billion in total sales, including $1.9 billion in ecommerce in FY25, according to the announcement. The company welcomed nearly 61 million visitors to its stores and over 457 million visitors online. The IKEA Family Rewards program reached a milestone of 25 million members in FY25, a 17% increase from FY24.
“FY25 was a year of meaningful connection and growth despite a challenging external environment. We strengthened our ability to serve customers through new store formats, digital innovation and expanded rewards, all while reinforcing our commitment to communities and the environment,” said Rob Olson, Interim CEO of IKEA U.S. in a press release. “Looking ahead to FY26, we will build on this momentum, focusing on continued investment in the U.S. to make IKEA more affordable, accessible and sustainable.”
The 2026 new store openings include:
- IKEA Fort Collins, joining IKEA Centennial and IKEA Colorado Springs
- IKEA Culver City, Los Angeles’ first city-center store
- IKEA Tulsa, the first IKEA store in Oklahoma
- IKEA Gurnee Mills in the Chicago area
IKEA currently operates more than 500 stores worldwide, including more than 50 in the United States.
