JHL Constructors (JHL) is excited to announce the groundbreaking of Explore Primary School, a 45,000-square-foot early childhood and primary school located on the Explore campus. In design-build collaboration with Mapleton Public Schools, Hord Coplan Macht (HCM), and Accenture, the new facility is purpose-built to serve the district’s youngest learners, from preschool through first grade.
Explore Primary is thoughtfully designed by HCM to create an environment where curiosity, creativity, and learning can thrive. The building draws inspiration from the site’s farmland history with playful barnyard-inspired design elements, soft pastel colors, natural wood finishes, and bright, welcoming spaces.
In addition to classrooms tailored for early learners, the new school will feature dedicated spaces for music, a library, and a gym—providing students with a well-rounded foundation during their earliest years in education.
“It’s an honor to continue our partnership with Mapleton Public Schools and to be welcomed back to the Explore campus for this exciting new chapter,” said Diego Rodriguez, Project Manager at JHL. “Having previously delivered the Explore PK-8 project in collaboration with HCM, we’re thrilled to help bring the District’s vision to life once again through this dynamic and inspiring new facility that supports excellence and lifelong learning for students and educators.”
Once construction is complete, the existing Explore School will be renovated to serve students in grades 2–8. Together, the two facilities will support the growing needs of the school community. Construction is now underway, with Explore Primary scheduled to open in 2027.
