Murphy Company Mechanical Contractors Announces Promotions to its Thornton-Based Leadership Team


To support its continued growth and long-term success in the Rocky Mountain region, Murphy Company has announced six key promotions within its Thornton-based leadership team. These strategic changes reflect its commitment to strengthening its operations and investing in the future of its people and business.
Ken McWay has been promoted to general manager of service. Joining Murphy in 2021 as a service account manager, Ken McWay quickly became a driving force behind Murphy’s data center services growth in Colorado. Ken oversees a talented team delivering HVAC, plumbing, automation, and data center solutions throughout the mountain states. With 20 years of industry experience, Ken now leads a team of 75+ Murphy service professionals specializing in HVAC, plumbing, automation, preventive maintenance, and data center service.
Brad Andrews has been promoted to vice president of operations. Brad began his career at Murphy directly out of CSU’s Construction Management program as an operations intern. Today, he has been with Murphy Company for 18 years and has been an operations manager for the last five years. Brad’s focus is on our continued presence in the pharmaceutical and manufacturing markets. Thanks to Brad’s commitment to Murphy and his extensive expertise, the company has been able to forge great relationships in the Colorado pharmaceutical and manufacturing markets, complemented by Brad’s position as a board member with the Rocky Mountain
Chapter of ISPE (International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering).


Matt Maurio has been promoted to vice president of operations. Matt began his career at Murphy as an operations intern after graduating from CSU’s construction management program. Matt has been with Murphy Company for 15 years and has been an operations manager for the last five years. Most recently, he has been focused on Murphy’s growth in the Wyoming and data center markets, along with his continued support of Murphy’s small project work. Matt has been a valued member of AGC Colorado and AGC’s Future Leaders Forum, forging beneficial relationships with clients and long-time Murphy partners. He is also a member of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) Institute for Project Managers, furthering his expertise and commitment to Murphy’s Core Values.
Greg Friess has been promoted to executive vice president. Bringing nearly 30 years of experience to our leadership team, Greg has implemented a culture of innovation, collaboration, and camaraderie here in Colorado. Under Greg’s leadership, Murphy’s Colorado office has had significant growth in both revenue and market presence. With a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Cleveland State University, he’s fostered great relationships with key clients throughout the region. Greg also brings extensive industry relationships through his board member role with CEF (Construction Education Foundation), and involvement with AGC, ASPE, ASHRAE, and a past presidency at the Rocky Mountain ISPE Chapter. Greg values his role as a mentor and epitomizes Murphy’s core values of employee well-being, enduring relationships, acting with integrity, and professionalism.


Trevor Sundheim has been promoted to Vice President of Operations. Trevor graduated from CSU’s Construction Management program and has been awarded the DBIA National Award of Merit. Trevor has been with Murphy Company for 10 years, and has been an integral part of growing Murphy’s Southern Colorado operation to a +$50M operation. He is also a valued member of AGC Colorado, DBIA, MCAA, MCAA Institute for Project Management, and is on the Local 58 Plumbers and Pipefitters Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC). His project experience is extensive, ranging from projects at Lockheed Martin, Collins Aerospace, the U.S. Olympic Training Center, Microchip, Lumen Technologies, and many more.
Matthew Tien has been promoted to chief operations officer. With over 15 years of experience and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic University – SLO, Matt has an extensive resume of building projects that change communities and enhance lives. He has led teams on both the preconstruction and operations sides of the organization and has been pivotal to the growth of Murphy’s construction teams. Matt’s commitment to leadership, mentorship, and operational excellence will facilitate our controlled strategic growth goals in Colorado, and Murphy’s devotion to its core values and company purpose.
