The historic Evans School will debut downtown Denver’s newest event spaces this December—ideal for social celebrations and corporate gatherings in the heart of the Golden Triangle.
Located steps from the Denver Art Museum, History Colorado and the Colorado State Capitol, Evans School offers a one-of-a-kind setting where classic character meets modern elegance. From wedding receptions to corporate gatherings, award ceremonies and holiday parties, this beautifully restored venue provides the perfect backdrop for unforgettable moments.
Seasoned Denver events professional Emily Raezer has been hired to serve as event manager at Evans School. Raezer has an extensive resume of industry experience—from planning intimate micro-weddings to large-scale galas with 10,000 guests—at top local venues like the Denver Art Museum and Denver Botanic Gardens.
Versatile spaces opening this December at Evans School include:
The North Lawn
- Tucked into a garden on the plaza, The North Lawn is a charming outdoor venue ideal for wedding ceremonies, cocktail parties and open-air gatherings. Framed by greenery and the school’s timeless architecture, this flexible space can accommodate up to 150 guests seated for a ceremony or 250 people standing.
The Auditorium
- Located in the former school auditorium space on the 2nd level, the 4,000-square-foot space has been thoughtfully transformed into a ballroom that blends classic architectural charm with modern design. With all of the sloped auditorium seating removed, this elegant venue can accommodate up to 180 guests for a seated dinner, 200 people for a presentation, or 400 attendees for a standing reception. A dedicated pre-function space with a custom bar welcomes guests upon arrival, while professional lighting and sound ensure a seamless experience. A stage and dance floor are available upon request.
The Green Rooms
- Also located on the 2nd level, these 530-square-foot and 390-square-foot spaces are the ideal setting for meetings and gatherings of up to 20 people. These flexible rooms can also serve as comfortable staging areas for brides, grooms, speakers, or performers.
The Evans School has been redeveloped by Denver’s City Street Investors—a key member of the team that revitalized Denver Union Station and Hangar 2 Lowry—who are dedicated to creating extraordinary places that synchronize the needs and desires of the community while adding transformative financial and social value. Partners Jerry and Fred Glick are long-time Denver developers with a track record of adaptive reuse projects in historic buildings. Mike and Michael Zoellner of ZF Capital are investors and developers focused on high-quality real estate and long-term partnerships in Denver.
Opened in 1904 as a public elementary school, the “Classical Revival” building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Original architectural details – including the ornate copper and brass staircases, tin ceilings and extensive woodwork – have all been lovingly preserved.
Home to The Schoolyard Beer Garden and The Schoolyard Cafe, Evans School offers extensive off-street parking, with 100 spaces available on the second and third floors of the Dryden Garage at 1140 Bannock Street.
