The Fort, an award-winning and nationally acclaimed “truly Colorado” restaurant located in Red Rocks Territory, has entered into a purchase agreement with Revesco Properties, with an intention to finalize the sale in early 2026. Revesco has partnered with City Street Investors, a Denver-based real estate and restaurant investment and development firm, to steward The Fort’s legacy and ensure its continued success for future generations.

“After searching for a successor for The Fort for many years, I’m delighted to be passing the tomahawk to this team,” said Holly Arnold Kinney, proprietress of The Fort. “They embody many of the same values I’ve been looking for in a successor, as it relates to operating The Fort’s business, caring for my Fort family of employees, and taking The Fort to the next level.”

The Fort was built and opened in 1963 by Arnold Kinney’s parents, Elizabeth and Samuel Arnold. A true family-owned and operated institution, Arnold Kinney became a partner in 1999, and later sole proprietress. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Fort is a full-scale adobe replica of Bent’s Fort, an important fur-trading fort originally in Southeastern Colorado (1833-1849). Over the years, it has been recognized by local and national media, including The New York Times, Bon Appétit and “The Today Show,” and has played host to many celebrities, including Julia Child, Luke Wilson and Jason Aldean, and dignitaries from Bill Clinton to George Bush.

Originally from Vancouver, but residing in Denver since 1998, Revesco Properties President and CEO Rhys Duggan has served in senior level commercial development roles in Vancouver, B.C., Denver and Nassau, Bahamas. As part of Revesco properties, in addition to The River Mile development, he’s spearheaded multiple hospitality and culturally focused projects in Denver, including Lower Highland’s Sonder Hotel, the akin-branded multifamily collection, Meow Wolf and many others.

“Rhys holds the value of responsible development as it relates to respecting the beauty of the land, and I’m confident he will responsibly care for the sacred primordial Red Rocks that surround us,” said Arnold Kinney. “He’s envisioned many developments in Denver, always respecting the land, and appreciates the natural landscape that makes The Fort such a magical destination.”

City Street Investors, led by Principals Joe Vostrejs, Pat McHenry and Rod Wagner, is best known for its key role in developing Denver Union Station, the Historic Evans School, and Lowry’s Hangar 2, including food and beverage concepts such as North County, Officers Club, and Lowry Beer Garden. The firm has also delivered Eastbridge Town Center and a wide range of retail, office, residential and restaurant projects throughout Denver’s core neighborhoods. Dedicated to creating extraordinary places that synchronize the needs and desires of the community while adding transformative financial and social value, City Street Investors has established itself as a leader in thoughtful place-making.

“The Revesco and City Street teams are honored to become the next stewards of such an iconic and revered institution in the Denver market,” said Duggan. “We are excited to begin to gently ease the operation into its next chapter and ecstatic to have Joe and his team at the helm.”

“The Fort is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, and there is an easement on the Fort property held by the Colorado Historical Foundation,” said Arnold Kinney. “I knew it would take a special team to take The Fort into the future, while also preserving its rich history, and I am excited to have found them.”
