$1,500 Gets Renters 662 SQFT of Apartment Space in Denver

Apartment space remains a top priority for renters nationwide. To help them get the best value for their money, RentCafe calculated how much square footage they can enjoy on a monthly budget of $1,500 — but this time around, the study focused on the top 50 best cities for renters.

Denver is the country’s 9th best large city for apartment dwellers (and 36th among cities of all sizes), thanks to its strong local economy and great quality of life. For $1,500 a month, which is roughly the national average rent price, here is how much apartment space renters can enjoy in this bustling city:

  • $1,500 stretches to 662 sq. ft of apartment space in the city, placing Denver 49th in our top 50 best cities for renters, ranked according to the amount of square footage they offer for this amount of money.
  • Apartments in Denver have an average size of 844 sq. ft., and with rental prices around $1,900, renters here have to sacrifice a little space to stay within budget and enjoy the city’s other perks.
  • Apart from great access to natural amenities, the city has a strong local economy that boasts the 10th highest number of new business applications and a low unemployment rate of 4.3%. Commuting or driving in the Mile-High is less strenuous since renters here waste fewer hours in traffic than in other best cities for apartment-dwellers nationwide (26 hours per year).
  • Looking at other Colorado markets ranked as this year’s best cities for renters, Colorado Springs offers the most apartment space on this budget 850 sq. ft. In Westminster, $1,500 stretches to 721 sq. ft. of living space.
