In October 2025, Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley’s Women Build Day brought together nearly 60 women to construct eight affordable homes for local families at Stratton Flats.
“Women Build Day is a Habitat for Humanity program that celebrates female leaders community-wide,” Elyse Howard, Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley’s vice president of community affairs & philanthropy said. “This was an opportunity for women to work together to remove barriers to homeownership and make it more accessible and affordable.”
“It was so great to see women who are going to have an opportunity to live in one of these houses involved and helping their neighbors build their homes too,” Coco Criste, Director of Community Engagement at Lifetime Home Remodeling said. “At Lifetime, we believe in building more than homes — we’re building better communities. Habitat’s mission aligns perfectly with our work and values, and the Women Build is a great way to show that when women come together, we create lasting change.”
Volunteers contributed to expand affordable housing opportunities in Eagle County, Colorado where the cost of living continues to challenge working families. The two-day event offered participants the chance to give back to their neighbors and inspire the next generation of women leaders in the trades.
“With support from Lifetime Home Remodeling and its roofing partner GAF, the team helped build more than houses,” Kelsie McKenna, Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley’s construction project manager said. “They built confidence, stability, and futures for families in the heart of the mountains.”
Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley is building 30 new homes in 2025, part of an effort to help local families live near where they work. The project began in 2011 and final construction in Stratton Flats is nearing completion. In total, Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley has worked in Eagle County since 1995, building and renovating homes in partnership with hardworking local families and has built 146 homes, helping 529 people on their journey to homeownership.
“Habitat’s work in Stratton Flats is almost complete,” Howard said. “This is an awesome neighborhood, and it’s mixed-income and mixed housing types, and it’s really a model of what good community housing should look like.”
