Denver Union Station is pleased to announce that Maria Empanada is now serving delicious Argentinian empanadas in the Great Hall.

Founded by immigrant Lorena Cantarovici on $300 and a dream, Maria Empanada is a celebration of Argentine culture and culinary tradition. From humble beginnings making empanadas in her garage in 2011, Cantarovici has expanded to operate multiple Maria Empanada locations across metro Denver, each serving more than a dozen varieties of signature empanadas, sweets, coffee and more.

Denver Union Station is the sixth location for Maria Empanada, which is recognized as one of Colorado’s most iconic Latina-owned small businesses. Empanadas are the perfect portable breakfast, lunch, dinner or quick snack for the thousands of commuters and visitors who pass through Denver Union Station each day.

“When someone visits Denver, you want to take them somewhere that shows the city at its best. Denver Union Station is one of those places. It brings old and new Denver together, a living landmark filled with history, beauty and energy,” said Cantarovici. “When my dad came to visit from Argentina, I brought him here for coffee. My family is far away so that memory is precious to me. Now opening Maria Empanada here gives this place an even deeper meaning. It’s an honor to become part of a Denver landmark where people meet, explore and make memories.”

Maria Empanada at Denver Union Station is now open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Empanadas are served individually or by the box, with online ordering available here.

Maria Empanada joins other delicious dining options recently opened inside Denver’s landmark train station, including Camino by Ultreia, which serves Spanish and Portuguese hot-press sandwiches and grab-and-go salads, and OGO Kitchen, which offers a fresh take on Korean barbecue and sushi.

Widely recognized as the heart of the Mile High City, the iconic Denver Union Station recently completed an extensive refresh that included a remodel of all 112 luxurious Crawford guest rooms and a redesign of the bustling Great Hall and The Cooper Lounge.
