Denver-based Aberdeen Construction recently completed the spec suites at 200 Plaza Drive in Highlands Ranch. This project proved to be the first major test for Aberdeen Construction’s Agile Construction Process introduced at the front end of the COVID-19 pandemic. Building manager CBRE originally planned for one large suite but decided during demolition to break the space into two suites to accommodate both the popularity of spec suites in general, and more specifically, in response to the changing market brought about by the pandemic.
The key demand was for flexibility and construction changes to be executed on-the-fly without compromising quality or safety. Aberdeen adapted to the new conditions by simultaneously managing demolition and separation of systems, like light fixtures and wiring along with HVAC controls, among others. Additionally, two kitchens with associated equipment had to be ordered and installed according to revised COVID-19 lead times.
Built in 1996, 200 Plaza Drive is a Class B 29,685-square-foot office building located within Corporate Center at Highlands Ranch.
