Adolfson & Peterson Construction Appoints John Herrera as Mountain States President

“AP is a company well positioned for the future. I take the responsibility of continuing to build our communities seriously.”

Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP), a national, family-owned construction management and contracting firm, has announced the appointment of John Herrera as President of the Mountain States region, which includes Colorado and Wyoming. Herrera succeeds Thomas (Tommy) Horsting, who is retiring after 40 years with AP.

“AP is in good hands with Johnny,” said Horsting “We’ve been working together for years, and John is an ideal choice to continue to lead AP Mountain States to its potential.”

Herrera began his career with AP as a field laborer in 1992 and has risen through the ranks, most recently serving as Vice President, Field Operations since 2018.

Herrera said, “It’s an honor to be chosen to follow Tommy. In our years together I appreciated the opportunity to test my leadership abilities. I’ve had a good teacher and I’m excited to build on Tommy’s legacy. I’m honored to begin leading this fine region.”

As part of Herrera’s leadership, he will focus on making decisions that support employee safety, mental health, and employee well-being. “Our greatest assets are our people,” Herrera stated. “I will continue to lead, like Tommy, in the best interest of our team. AP is a company well-positioned for the future. I take the responsibility of continuing to build our communities seriously.”

Herrera will be responsible for leading the team of over 300 Mountain States employees. In 2023, AP’s Colorado revenue was $505 million.
