ALDI has taken another step toward its Colorado expansion, submitting plans for its first two grocery stores within the City of Denver.
According to planning documents filed with the city by Atwell LLC, on behalf of ALDI Real Estate, Inc., one proposed location is at 18453 E. 57th Avenue, in far northeast Denver near the Green Valley Ranch area. The approximately 20,000-square-foot store would include about 90 parking spaces and be located near ongoing commercial development along the Tower Road corridor.
A second store is planned on a 2.23-acre site in Denver’s Central Park neighborhood at 9111 E. 40th Ave., marking the discount grocer’s first announced locations in the metro area. That store would include a one-story, approximately 19,432-square-foot retail grocery store development and 109 parking spaces.
The filings build on ALDI’s January announcement that it plans to enter Colorado with approximately 50 stores across the Denver and Colorado Springs markets over the next several years as part of a broader national expansion. The company also plans to develop a regional distribution center in Aurora to support its Colorado operations.
Mile High CRE previously reported on ALDI’s Colorado expansion plans, which include a significant investment in the state’s grocery market as the retailer continues its westward growth. While the recently submitted plans identify the first two Denver locations, additional stores are expected to be announced as the rollout continues.
