Rowland+Broughton Architecture / Urban Design / Interior Design is excited to share that its ASPENX retail projectrecently received a Best Award in the Retail Category from the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Rocky Mountain Chapter. The IIDA Best Awards, a design excellence awards program that celebrates brilliantly executed spaces and thinking, were presented at Denver’s Sturm Grand Pavilion. The firm also received a Best Award in the Live Category for its Meadow House residential project.

Set within Aspen’s Gondola Plaza at the base of Aspen Mountain slopes, flagship ASPENX is the premium brand’s first brick-and-mortar retail experience. Debuted in December 2021, the brand is informed by Aspen’s reputation as an iconic athletic playground destination and parent Aspen Skiing Company’s thought leadership. With bespoke activations throughout the year, the store serves as a location for guests to not only shop premium performance wear, but also immerse themselves in Aspen’s innovative spirit and true experiential brand experience.
At 1,200 square feet, the inviting space has an elevated avant-garde feel. Primary detailing includes custom ebonized oak cabinetry and bleached oak seating. Custom KGM architectural lighting illuminates the interior, while a dropped ceiling incorporating vertical extruded aluminum in rectangular extrusions adds a sense of light and openness. In addition to the new ASPENX Prada and Aether Collections, seasonal Elevated Bike or Limited Edition Ski Rentals are offered. Further elevating the experience, the space features a NEOLITH stone espresso, wine, and food service bar, which in turn encourages a convivial shopping experience far beyond the norm.
