The Buxton Hotel Debuts Following Historic Renovation

The Buxton Hotel is officially opening in Fort Collins following the transformation of a longtime Best Western property into a 69-room boutique hotel rooted in wellness, design and heartfelt, women-led hospitality.

Located directly across from Colorado State University, The Buxton reimagines a legacy lodging property as one of Northern Colorado’s most distinctive new travel destinations. The hotel pairs- bold, personality-driven design with integrated wellness experiences and a deeply personal brand story shaped by three generations of women.

Following a transformative renovation by Tribe Development Company, The Buxton Hotel is joining the BW Signature Collection®, reimagining a historic Fort Collins property that has welcomed travelers visiting the city and Colorado State University since 1962. The property underwent an extensive renovation and repositioning effort to become a modern boutique hospitality destination. Today, The Buxton introduces a more personal hospitality experience shaped by expressive design, restorative amenities and a multigenerational family story.

“We wanted The Buxton to feel less like a hotel and more like being welcomed into the home of a gracious host,” said Ashley Stiles, owner of The Buxton Hotel. “The best hospitality stays with you because of how it made you feel. From the design and wellness offerings to the smallest guest interactions, we tried to create something that feels warm, thoughtful and distinctly connected to Fort Collins.”

The redesign introduces vibrant interiors layered with dusty rose tones, leopard accents, curated artwork, and playful details that give the hotel a bold sense of personality. Guest amenities include an infrared sauna, cold plunge, hydro massage, red light therapy, and an all-season pool. The hotel will also debut The Caldwell Bar, opening later this month, as a new gathering space inspired by the warmth and hospitality traditions of the Stiles family.

At the heart of The Buxton is the legacy of Stiles’ grandmother, Nina Belle Buxton, whose warmth, creativity and instinct for bringing people together helped shape the hotel’s philosophy of care. That spirit is carried forward through three generations of women and reflected in the brand’s promise, “Where Xtra is Welcomed,” which centers on thoughtful details, genuine connection and making guests feel seen.

The result is not a hotel designed exclusively for women, but one shaped by a woman’s point of view. At The Buxton, comfort, emotional awareness and attention to detail are treated as essential parts of the guest experience rather than secondary considerations. That perspective aligns with research showing women drive the vast majority of travel decisions, yet are not always intentionally considered in hotel design and programming.

The project also reflects a broader shift in the hospitality industry, as owners increasingly reinvest in existing properties through renovation, repositioning and experience-driven design. Rather than pursuing new development alone, many hospitality groups are transforming legacy hotels into destinations with stronger identity and deeper connection to place. The global lodging construction and renovation market is projected to reach $1.04 trillion by 2030, underscoring continued demand for more distinctive hotel experiences.

Beyond the hotel itself, The Buxton aims to serve as a new community gathering place within Fort Collins through partnerships with local businesses, Colorado State University connections, wellness programming and future events tied to art, music and culture.

As Fort Collins continues to grow and evolve beyond its reputation as a college and brewery town, The Buxton represents a new generation of hospitality in Northern Colorado, one rooted as much in emotional experience and placemaking as it is in accommodations.

The hotel will celebrate its opening with a community block party on June 13.
