Construction of Affordable Housing Community in Littleton Underway

Construction has begun on Trailhead Community’s affordable housing project in Littleton. The first-of-its-kind apartment complex in Colorado will allocate 50 percent of its 80 units for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the other 50 percent for seniors and working professionals. A cooperative management model will integrate residents to create an intentional and synergistic community.
General Contractor, K2 Residential Solutions, anticipates it will take approximately 20 months to complete the project. The building will include state-of-the-art technology and “Universal Design” features to promote independence and safety for all residents. On-site concierge staff will provide 24/7 oversite for health and safety, facilitation of social events, coordination of meal preparation and nurturing engagement of mutual support between tenants.
The project, designed by KGA Studio Architects, has many unique and intentional features to promote inclusion within the community including a sport court, sound-proof multimedia room for music, large screen viewing and mini jam sessions, a community kitchen and common dining room serving optional meals daily, an art studio and large common areas both indoors and outdoors.
Trailhead Community has partnered with First Western Trust Bank and Colorado Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) to fund the construction of the $20,690,000 building. As exciting as it is that their “infrastructure” loan closed, permits are in place and construction has begun, the non-profit is still actively fundraising to furnish the inside of the building. This includes their commercial kitchen equipment, sport court finishes, common area furniture, technology/security features, fixtures, furnishings, equipment, and more.
Interested in helping? On September 8, 2022 Trailhead Community will host its largest fundraising event of the year. Last Comic Standing winner, Josh Blue, is returning this year to entertain guests with his world-renowned stand-up comedy, as well as raise awareness about individuals with disabilities. The event will be held at the beautiful Glenmoor Country Club in Greenwood Village.

It is my understanding that there will be a few condos for sale as part of the building. I would be interested in the possibility of being able to purchase a condo. I would also like to know if your organization would want to provide church services. My wife and I have been volunteering as chaplain for 35 years in rest homes. Because you are a senior living facility and helping those with other issues it is an interest to both of us.
