Denver Ranks 2nd in U.S. for Active Renters

For those who want to get and stay fit, the convenience of a fitness center close to home certainly helps. In the last decade alone, fitness amenities have been a regular fixture in around 90 percent of new apartment buildings nationwide, up from only 29 percent in the 1970s. According to RENTCafé’s latest report, Denver is one of the best large cities for active renters to live in and here is why:

  • Denver ranks 2nd among the nation’s best large cities for active renters, with 71% of its apartment buildings being equipped with a fitness amenity, outranked only by Austin, TX.
  • While renting in buildings with gyms may cost more, the price difference in Denver is only $80/month above the city average rent. This is in line with what most renters are willing to pay, according to the survey.
  • Locally, Westminster is Colorado’s No. 1 best city for active renters, with fitness amenities present in 77% of apartment buildings. The price difference is $34 more to rent a place in a building with a gym there.
  • Denver ranks 5th in Colorado, also surpassed by Fort Collins, Englewood and Littleton in terms of percentage of buildings with fitness amenities.
