Kansas City-based Dimensional Innovations (DI), an experience design, technology, and fabrication firm—now with an office in Denver—partners with professional and collegiate sports franchises, companies and brands, entertainment giants, museums and world-renowned hospitals, to develop engaging experiences within a physical space. A team of brand strategists, animators, fabricators, interior designers, graphic designers, architects, interactive and environmental designers, and digital engineers, collaborate together in 200,000 square feet of design and fabrication space to create some of the most talked about experiences across the country.
DI has partnered with numerous organizations in Denver and surrounding communities, including the Broncos, Rockies, Nuggets, Colorado College, Denver Zoo, Colorado State University and many more. Past projects include the Denver Nuggets Locker Room, Denver Zoo, and its own Denver office expansion.
For now, the firm’s Colorado regional office — established in July of 2019 — is focused on business development with all of its design, technology, engineering & fabrication coming out of its headquarters in Overland Park, KS.
Designing during Covid, DI has experienced its fair share of challenges and setbacks, especially given the fact the firm specializes in creating large-scale public arenas. But according to Alex Divine, managing director of the Denver office, the firm remains committed to project delivery with safety its top priority.
“The health and wellbeing of our clients and their guests is incredibly important, especially during the time of COVID-19. Whether designing collegiate arenas, conceptualizing new campuses, refreshing an outdoor exhibit or updating professional locker rooms, we always keep their safety top-of-mind. We’ll continue to do so, ensuring their experiences are memorable, exciting and safe,” says Divine.
Current Colorado projects include:
Colorado College Ed Robson Arena
Dimensional Innovations was selected by JLG Architects and Colorado College to be the experiential design partner for the new Ed Robson Ice Hockey Arena in Colorado Springs. City Council approved the project on Dec. 10, 2019 and the project broke ground Feb. 15, 2020.
As the experiential designer, DI is focused on designing branding and storytelling elements for the dedicated team spaces and public areas of the facility. These elements include environmental graphics, display cases, sculptural elements and facility signage and wayfinding. In addition to designing all of these elements, DI will also be responsible for fabrication and installation. The project is set to be completed in mid-2021.
CSU Spur – National Western Center
Dimensional Innovations was selected by CAA ICON and Colorado State University to be the exhibit design partner for the new CSU Spur Campus at the National Western Center, located near the intersection of I-25 and I-70. The new campus will consist of three buildings focused on water, food, and health. What’s inside the buildings will bring together the brightest minds, inspire the next generation, and change the world.
JE Dunn broke ground on the first of the three buildings on May 5, 2020. CAA ICON is managing the Spur project. In addition to the owner’s representative and CSU, DI is closely collaborating with the three architecture teams: Anderson Mason Dale, Clark Enersen Partners & Hord Coplan Macht.
As the exhibit designer, DI is focused on designing immersive, interactive exhibits that help tell the story of education, innovation & research as it pertains to Water, Food & Agriculture and Animal Health. The exhibits are still in their early design stages but are intended to have a multi-generational reach with a specific focus around engaging K-12 students. The first of the three buildings is set to open in 2021 with the other two facilities opening in 2022.
