Students and staff of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Early College recently joined Denver Public School officials, GH Phipps Construction Companies and Eidos Architects to celebrate the expansion of the school’s athletic facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The facility is located at 19535 East 46th Avenue and includes a Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA)-compliant gym for high school basketball and volleyball. It also included a CHSAA-compliant turf field for high school soccer with bleachers, large plaza areas with walkways, and additional parking. The site re-design, site drainage, and grading design was an essential part of setting the project up for future success. The drainage improvements include a storm sewer and miscellaneous on-site drainage features.
“We’re very proud of our tremendous relationship with the Denver Public Schools and completing this tremendous project on behalf of the students and staff of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Early,” said Rich Mendez, superintendent, GH Phipps.
