Emily Griffith Technical College just announced a new construction pathway, Virtual Design Construction Academy, which will launch in Fall 2022. Virtual design construction is a new, fast-growing process in the construction industry that uses advanced technology to create virtual models of buildings to improve the construction process. The school is holding a virtual open house on May 11 to share more information about the course with interested individuals.
“With a construction surge upon us, we are excited to launch a new program next year to continue to support the growing industry,” said Vivian Jeffcoat, dean of College of Trades, Industry and Professional Studies at Emily Griffith. “This new academy is just one of the many ways Emily Griffith is powering Colorado’s workforce, providing training to those who are interested in working in essential construction jobs.”
The VDCA program will allow students to receive on-the-job training, paid internships, and gain essential skills to achieve gainful employment with top construction, engineering and architectural companies across Colorado. The Virtual Design Construction Academy was developed by Emily Griffith Technical College, Denver Public Schools, The Opus Group, Encore Electric, and Associated General Contractors.
Emily Griffith is recruiting high school students, parents, counselors and individuals interested in learning about virtual design and construction at an online event on May 11, 2021 from 6 to 7 p.m. MST. Attendees will be introduced to 3D modeling, GIS/Robotics, and Construction Technology and hear from industry experts about career paths and opportunities in this fast-growing field. The first 25 people to register and attend will get a $50 Visa gift card, and all attendees will be entered in a drawing to win a PS5, headphones, or a Be A Good Person hoodie!
