Experiential Sportsman’s Club Opens in Lakewood

The 20,000-square-foot facility serves as the Denver area’s first experiential shooting range and utilizes the latest advancements in range technology.

The Gallery Sportsman’s Club & Range, a new state-of-the-art facility featuring a high-tech shooting range, gear shop, coffee bar, restaurant and lounge, held its grand opening on Friday, April 29 at 1350 Colorado Mills Parkway in Lakewood.

The project, owned by Mark Hymanson LLC, began construction in May 2021 and delivers an immersive and visually compelling experience that stands out from other destinations, according to Ryan Weller, director of retail for Nadel Architecture, which is responsible for the entirety of the project’s development including branding, planning, interior design, and contract documents.

“Retail concepts are continuing to progress and transform to become even more expansive in what they offer,” says Weller. “At these spaces, consumers expect to be provided with unique and engaging experiences that prioritize human connection. The Gallery Sportsman’s Club and Range was designed to exemplify this evolution in retail by offering its visitors an experience that will entice them to leave their homes, spend long periods of time enjoying the many activities and amenities of the club, and return again in the future.”

The 20,000-square-foot facility serves as the Denver area’s first experiential shooting range and utilizes the latest advancements in range technology. The space provides visitors with 15 shooting lanes, a virtual shooting range, private gunsmith, a full-service lounge featuring a full bar and kitchen, a walk-up coffee bar, and over 3,000 square feet of retail.

“We worked diligently with our client to implement a design that is responsive to the demands of the modern-day consumer, including utilizing elements that help to create a cohesive look and establish a distinct brand identity that tells a story to consumers,” explains Weller. “The environment has been intentionally branded to disassociate from the stigma of gun ranges that are known to be dark, dingy, and unwelcoming to new guests. The space features custom art displays created especially for the brand as well as high ceilings, open space, warehouse lighting, and high-end treatments. These refined finishes include polished concrete, solid wood fixturing, natural stone, and ultra-lux décor. Ultimately, this strategy provides an overall look and feel that is entirely different from traditional gun range facilities and that creates an immersive-yet-elevated experience for professional marksman and for those who may be new to the shooting gallery experience.”

Located within The Gallery, visitors can also enjoy The Barrel Room, Colorado’s first and only restaurant and lounge within a firing range complex. Open to the public, The Barrel Room also hosts exclusive, members-only social events. Additionally, Trigger Press Coffee, the in-house coffee bar, features local Colorado roasters, delicious pastries, and quick grab-and-go snacks.

“These food and beverage spaces within The Gallery display their own distinct identity with the incorporation of custom art and color palettes, while also fitting seamlessly into the overall narrative and branding that the destination aims to convey to consumers,” continues Weller. “The multi-use nature of The Gallery differentiates it from other traditional retail locations and provides a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment for consumers to eat, drink, and enjoy one-of-a-kind facility equipped with the newest industry technology.”

The Gallery also includes state-of-the-art building systems that foster a clean and healthy environment. Range bays are outfitted with the safest HVAC system available. They offer purge-style ventilation that ensures 100% outside air is filtered into the range, Weller adds.
