STEAMBOAT SPRINGS – Local prefabrication company Fastwalls — a leader in providing prefabricated steel stud framing systems — has substantially completed their scope of work on the new Homewood Suites hotel in Steamboat Springs.
“This project is a prime example of how efficient offsite construction is,” says Karin Wall, marketing manager for Fastwalls, “The contractor’s use of prefabricated product significantly reduced the time and labor required on site as compared to stick framing the exterior envelope.”
Under contract to Brown Contractors, Inc., Fastwalls prefabricated 72,000 square feet of load-bearing exterior, interior demising, and interior corridor panels for the hotel, based on an exterior-to-corridor load path. The installation of the panels on the 4-storey building was completed in under 10 weeks.
Further schedule savings were found in the use of Cortek modular core and stair systems.
“This was the first time Fastwalls and Cortek products were used on the same project, along with Vulcraft, Ecospan Composite Floor Systems and the services of Lochsa Engineering,” says Fastwalls President & CEO Ron Barnes, “Each player contributed what they excel at, and the combined result was an efficient, hassle-free project.”
