Federal Regulators Cautioning the Backing of Commercial Real Estate Loans

In order to influence banks to strengthen loan terms, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency is cautioning commercial real estate industry lenders. Small U.S. banks are affected the most, especially after the Federal Reserve indicated earlier this summer that prices in the commercial real estate industry appeared to increase too quickly.
