The design-build team of Flintco and Page has been selected to lead the design and construction of the pioneering Quantum COmmons Lab at Colorado School of Mines. The project marks a historic moment as the first development on Mines’ newly acquired 70-acre campus in Arvada and comes at a pivotal time as the region establishes itself as “The Future of Quantum” following Colorado’s recent designation as a Tech Hub by the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration.

The integrated team combines Flintco’s advanced industry construction expertise with Page’s experience in designing complex research facilities. With Maxson Engineering’s specialized MEP engineering capabilities and CPI Group’s technical guidance, the team will deliver this transformative project’s new construction and renovation components. The scope encompasses a state-of-the-art cleanroom facility, Class IV Laser Lab, and a comprehensive renovation of an existing laboratory building.

Quantum COmmons will provide open-access user facilities critical to accelerating the speed of progress in the quantum industry. These facilities will offer capabilities in solid state and AMO modalities, alongside FAB services to accelerate the speed of iteration across the entire quantum industry. This will enable breakthroughs ranging from artificial intelligence, climate tech, and healthcare to sensing and well beyond. When Quantum COmmons @ Arvada comes online in 2026, it will have:

  • 10,000 sq. ft. fabrication lab/cleanroom building to support prototyping and low-volume manufacturing
  • 17,000 sq. ft open-access quantum labs with a collaborative community design
  • 70 acres available for open access facility expansion and co-location and growth of quantum startups and scale-ups

For the Flintco | Page team, this project represents an opportunity to shape the future of quantum research facilities. As the Mountain West emerges as a quantum technology powerhouse, the team is proud to contribute their combined expertise in bringing this complex, technology-driven project to life.
