Retired NFL outside linebacker Josh Martin and his sister Gabby Martin are excited to announce the grand opening of their new Smoothie King location in Northfield. The franchise opened its doors to the public on May 1, bringing the brand’s signature blend of health and wellness into the Northfield community.
The Martin siblings’ journey began in Denver, where they attended Cherokee Trail High School. Josh’s academic and athletic prowess earned him a coveted spot at Columbia University, where he excelled as a standout football player while earning a degree in anthropology. After college, Josh’s talent o n the field caught the attention of several NFL teams, and he went on to spend seven years playing outside linebacker for the Chiefs, Buccaneers, Colts, Jets, and Saints.
“Playing football professionally taught me a lot about the importance of fueling my body with the right kind of food to perform at my best, but I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit that could not be ignored,” Josh Martin, Smoothie King Northfield franchise owner, said. “I’ve been waiting for the perfect opportunity to marry my passion for health and wellness with my love for business, and opening a Smoothie King franchise with my sister in the town where we grew up is the perfect way to do it. This new venture allows me to offer my community nutritious and delicious smoothies that support all kinds of wellness journeys. I’m excited to share my knowledge and passion with my community and promote healthy living in a convenient and accessible way.”
Smoothie King is the leading smoothie franchise in the United States, with over 1,300 locations worldwide. The Northfield location will serve up over 100 smoothies, offering a wide range of options that cater to different dietary needs and goals, such as weight loss, muscle gain and immune support.
Gabby, Josh’s sister and business partner, brings a wealth of franchise and quick food-service knowledge to the table. With years of experience managing operations for multinational corporations such as Starbucks and McDonald’s, Gabby is a seasoned professional when it comes to running a successful franchise. Her expertise and leadership skills have been instrumental in ensuring the smooth opening of the new Smoothie King location in Northfield.
