COLORADO SPRINGS – GE Johnson Construction Co. recently completed two school construction projects in School District 49, which serves northeast Colorado Springs and the Falcon area of El Paso County.

Ribbon-cutting ceremonies were held last week at Bennett Ranch Elementary School and Falcon High School in preparation for the new school year. School administrators, faculty, parents, and students attended both events, along with representatives from GE Johnson, CRP Architects (Bennett Ranch), DLR Group (Falcon) and Wember.

“We are glad to continue our relationship with District 49 and to serve a growing part of our community,” said Jim Johnson, president and CEO of GE Johnson.

Bennett Ranch Elementary is a new school that broke ground in August 2017. The 63,000-square-foot facility includes a centralized student common area with a performance stage, academic pods, a gym, and outdoor play areas. The on-time completion allows for students and teachers to start school the first week of August 2018.

Construction of an academic wing at Falcon High School broke ground in October 2017. Much of the work for the addition was accomplished during the school year, while students attended classes. The new wing includes space for career and technical education including medical, agricultural, and automotive training; computer labs; multipurpose classrooms; and areas for students to gather.
