For GH Phipps Construction Companies, recent renovations at offices in Greenwood Village, Colorado Springs, and Fort Collins were about more than refreshed finishes or updated layouts. They were about creating a cohesive, intentional experience that reflects the company’s culture, values, and commitment to collaboration. GH Phipps partnered with Eidos Architects on all three office renovations, ensuring each space felt distinct to its location while maintaining a unified design language.
“We wanted our offices to reflect who we are as a company,” shared Todd Ruff, president of GH Phipps Construction Companies. “Whether someone is visiting us in Greenwood Village, Colorado Springs, or Fort Collins, the experience should feel consistent, welcoming, and aligned with our brand.”
Before the renovations, GH Phipps’ offices reflected the realities of growth and expansion that had occurred over time. While functional, the spaces were clearly repurposed from prior owners and tenants, featuring dated finishes and layouts that did not reflect GH Phipps’ identity, culture, or the quality of work the company delivers. There was little to signal to visitors that they had entered a GH Phipps office.
Recognizing this disconnect, the team saw the renovations as an opportunity to be intentional about how its workplaces represented the brand. With multiple offices across the Front Range, leadership wanted to ensure that no matter which location employees, clients, or partners visited, the experience would feel consistent, professional, and clearly GH Phipps. Working closely with Eidos, the team established a design framework that introduced cohesive branding, updated materials, and modern layouts. Elements such as color palettes, signage, artwork and consistent design details now create a recognizable identity. At the same time, the offices were designed to retain a sense of local character. Natural light, views, and subtle regional influences help connect each space to its community, resulting in offices that balance consistency with authenticity.
“Eidos has partnered with GH Phipps for decades, but being entrusted to design their office home was a truly special opportunity. It gave us the chance to understand their legacy, their values, and what motivates their people every day. Our goal was to create a cohesive experience across all three offices, regardless of size, so that the palette of materials, colors, lighting, and spatial experience unmistakably feels like GH Phipps Construction. The design goes beyond aesthetics. It reinforces identity, supports culture, and creates an environment that inspires people to come together – one that’s absolutely commute-worthy,” said Andrea Nicholl, architect, Eidos Architects.
A Collaborative Process Built on Trust
As a general contractor that regularly partners with architects and designers, GH Phipps approached its own office renovations with a deep appreciation for collaboration. Eidos was selected not only for its design expertise, but for its ability to understand GH Phipps’ culture and translate it into physical space.
Using the same design partner across all three projects allowed the teams to build on lessons learned, streamline decision-making, and maintain consistency from one location to the next. The process mirrored the relationship-driven approach GH Phipps brings to its client work, rooted in communication, trust, and shared goals. Beyond aesthetics, the renovations were guided by how GH Phipps teams work today and the diverse needs of the people who use the spaces.
Updated conference rooms, open collaboration areas, and flexible meeting spaces allow teams to come together easily, while quieter zones support heads-down work. Technology upgrades enable hybrid meetings and seamless communication across offices, reinforcing connectivity between regions.
Inclusivity was a key consideration throughout the design process. The renovated offices incorporate features that support accessibility and wellbeing, including improved circulation, adaptable meeting spaces, and thoughtfully designed amenities such as private phone booths, lactation rooms, and lounge areas. These features ensure the spaces are welcoming and supportive for employees, clients, and visitors alike.
The offices were also intentionally designed to function as gathering places for the broader construction community. GH Phipps has already hosted organizational and industry events, including a recent Hispanic Contractors of Colorado (HCC) event at the Greenwood Village office, reinforcing the company’s commitment to inclusion, relationship-building, and industry engagement.
“Our offices aren’t just places where work happens,” Ruff noted. “They’re places where relationships are built with our teams, partners, and community.”
Reinforcing Culture Through Space
As a 100% employee-owned company, creating spaces where people feel invested in, supported, and proud to work is a priority. It is essential that the experience feels intentional and aligned with the company’s mission, vision, and purpose; dedicated to the collective success of our people and partners. Ultimately, the renovations reflect a broader philosophy: that thoughtful design, strong partnerships, and inclusive, intentional spaces contribute to stronger teams, deeper relationships, and better outcomes both inside the office and on the jobsite.
