Groundbreaking: Foster Dual Language Pk-8, Jefferson County

GE Johnson Construction Co. held a groundbreaking ceremony on February 3 to celebrate the start of renovations and additions to Foster Dual Language Pk-8, formerly known as Foster Elementary in Jeffco Public Schools.

The event was attended by students, teachers, and community members, in addition to project team members from Larson Incitti Architects, and JeffCo Public Schools’ construction management. Foster Principal Leigh Hiester and Interim Superintendent Kristopher Schuh each spoke at the event.

“This is our third project with Jeffco Public Schools and we’ve been looking forward to getting started on the addition and renovation of the only dual language school in the county. This groundbreaking event served as a thank you to the taxpayers for this bond project. We are grateful for the relationship we’ve built with the school district,” said Michelle Robinette, general manager at GE Johnson.

The project consists of two additions and a renovation to the existing building. The addition will include six new classrooms and a new flex classroom with multiple storage rooms. The existing building will receive a new fire suppression system, and updated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment throughout the building.

The project is set to be completed in August 2021 to welcome students for the new school year.
