Glenwood Springs, CO – Earlier this month, Haselden Construction held the ground breaking ceremony for the new, $23 million Eastbank PK-8 School in Glenwood Springs. The event was well attended by the students, staff, and community members who are eager to see the new facility come to fruition.
“We’re thrilled to be working with the Roaring Fork School District again,” stated Haselden senior project manager Brian Hunt. “While our new Glenwood Springs office allows us to provide a superior level of customer service, our past experience with Bennett Wagner & Grody Architects and owner’s representative NV5 will ensure we can hit the ground running and deliver a seamless project with a proven cohesive team of education experts.”
The 75,000 SF school consists of two 2-level wings. Other spaces include an innovation lab, art room, music room, kitchen, administration area, and large gym and locker rooms. Flexible classroom spaces with operable partitions make the space highly adaptable, as do the extensive common spaces and breakout rooms between classrooms. In lieu of a traditional cafeteria, design architecture firm Bennett Wagner Grody opted for a large open commons area which will also serve as audience seating for performances in the adjacent gym and stage. There is also a feature stairway to the 2nd floor balcony in this area which overlooks the performance space.
Extensive use of glass both on the interior and exterior of the structure provide a connection to the neighboring spaces, as well as the beautiful natural landscape of the area. The outdoor play areas and learning spaces take advantage of these surroundings, and count a soccer field among the amenities.
