DENVER — In May the Hensel Phelps Colorado offices collaborated with Denver non-profit Amp the Cause for a community day benefiting local organizations. The results supported 634,338 kids and families at 50 non-profit beneficiaries.
Overall, there were 750 volunteers at the community day and together they used thousands of items like paint rollers, trash bags, plants, wheelbarrows and mulch to better the community. 18 Hensel Phelps employees helped by painting walls and providing everyday items that teachers can recycle as materials for student crafts and projects.
Hensel Phelps volunteered at RAFT Colorado, which provides resources to make learning interactive and fun, while maintaining a low cost. RAFT gathers unwanted items from local businesses and upcycles them into learning activities designed to help teachers provide kids with hands-on learning opportunities that are fun, engaging and academically rigorous.
“I enjoy volunteering in the Denver community, and AMP the Cause in particular really allows us to learn about different organizations I did not know existed, like RAFT Colorado, which benefits local teachers while also helping the environment by diverting materials from landfills,” said Project Manager Cheryl Hoffman.
Amp the Cause is a Denver-based nonprofit that raises health and education funds, generates awareness of local charities, uses donations to help children with life-threatening illnesses and provides opportunities for kids to participate in educational programs in a safe and healthy environment.
