Hopscotch Beer Garden, from the development team behind Denargo MarketGolub & Company and Formativ, will open its doors on July 11. Hopscotch will be operated by local event and activation company Drink Denver.

A new central gathering place and social anchor for Denargo Market, Hopscotch features more than 17,000 square feet of bar and patio space centered around brightly painted shipping containers retrofitted into an expansive bar. Casual outdoor seating peppers the space, while a reinforced heated tent structure is available for cooler months. Hopscotch also features a turf field for lawn games and pick-up volleyball, soccer and badminton matches, and on-leash dogs are welcome throughout the space. From Hopscotch, guests have access to an event lawn where they can enjoy food and drink among regular programming, while families are within walking distance to a playground, pop jet fountain and Rhingo, a 30-foot climbable rhino sculpture. Hopscotch and the surrounding four acres of public realm, designed in partnership with Sasaki, is built around the mantra, “where urban meets industrial meets wild.”

Bridging the gap between the southern pocket of the River North Art District (RiNo) and downtown Denver, Hopscotch offers a 16-tap system of draft beers, wine and ciders as well as canned cocktails and seltzers from national and local Colorado makers including Denver Beer Co., Venga, Weldwerks, Great Divide, Upslope, Stem Ciders and more. Non-alcoholic options include nitro cold brew from Queen City Collective, MOR kombucha, sparkling water, soda and a range of N/A cocktails and beers. The drink menu is complemented by a small selection of ready-to-eat light bites, from producers including Denver Chip Co., Kettle Head Popcorn, Yeehaw Pickles and Gnarly Mountain Cookies, plus a rotating schedule of food trucks including Hibachi House, Flavor of Tabasco, Ninja Ramen Mobile, HipPOPs, The Bamboo Skewer, R&B Tacos and Grill, Bandwagon Sandwich Co. and more.

In addition to acting as an ongoing social hub, Hopscotch will offer seasonal programming, such as March Madness watch parties, bike-in move nights and fitness on the lawn, as well as weekly happenings like Yappy Hour, trivia and bingo. Community events that include Second Sundays – featuring music, coffee and rotating pop-ups—are also expected to be popular.

“We created this space to connect people to the riverfront and each other,” said Laura Newman, vice president of investment and development at Golub & Co. “Denargo Market will become a dynamic day-to-night destination for Denver and the surrounding area with Hopscotch at the helm, the first major point of connection for this pocket of the city and a cornerstone of placemaking and programming for surrounding residents.”

Denargo Market is a new, multi-phased urban development that offers an elevated blend of residential, retail, office and hospitality—all woven together by world-class public spaces. Zoned for over three million square feet of vertical development, Denargo Market will become the preeminent place to live, work and play in the Mile High City.

“We’ve long felt that Hopscotch will be the first catalyst at Denargo Market,” said Alison Nestel-Patt, director of development and user experience at Formativ. “It is exciting to see that take shape today with the opening of the beer garden – establishing the neighborhood as a sought-after destination for Denverites to live, work and play.”

Hopscotch is open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 2-10 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 10 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 8 p.m.
