Hord Coplan Macht has New Digs at Dairy Block

DENVERHord Coplan Macht has moved its downtown Denver office to Dairy Block, at 1800 Wazee Street. The office move will accommodate the firm’s continued growth. The new 18,000-square-foot office space will house the firm’s 75 employees and six studios.

Hord Coplan Macht is an integrated firm offering planning, architecture, landscape architecture, interior design and historic preservation services, with offices in Denver, Baltimore and Alexandria. The firm has added more than 40 employees since moving to its previous office, Engine House No. 5, eight years ago. The Engine House was a former City and County of Denver fire station built in 1922 located at 1331 19th Street. It became the first LEED Platinum historic building in Colorado after being purchased and renovated by the firm. Hord Coplan Macht’s new office space in the Dairy Block has been designed to include a wide variety of meeting and collaborative spaces in a technology-rich environment with health and wellness at the core.

“Our move to the Dairy Block will keep our roots in downtown Denver and allow us to have all of our employees working together in the same space in a workplace that inspires great design and collaboration’’ says Adele Willson, Denver managing principal, Hord Coplan Macht. “While we will miss the Engine House and the rich history associated with the building, we feel this is a perfect next step for the firm and will offer our employees another great work environment.”

Saunders Construction was the GC for the project.

Hord Coplan Macht’s new office space has been designed to WELL Building standards, the first certification to focus exclusively on the health and wellness of the building’s occupants, administered by the International WELL Building Institute. The WELL Building Standard is third-party certified by Green Business Certification Inc., which also administers the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification and LEED credentialing program, a sister organization of the U.S. Green Building Council.

Hord Coplan Macht applied its knowledge of WELL Building standards, LEED certification and expertise in creating healthy environments to inform the design of the new studio to deliver a 21st century working environment.
