A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on September 4 to celebrate the completion of MSU Denver’s Health Institute’s Simulation and Skills Laboratory, an essential part of the University’s multidisciplinary Health Institute. The 42,978-square-foot project, which spans four campus buildings, includes newly renovated spaces for the Criminal Justice Center, the Center for Teaching, Learning and Design, the IT Help Desk, Nutrition, Health Professionals, and a state-of-the-art nursing simulation laboratory.
The centerpiece of the project is the new 18,875-square-foot nursing simulation space in the West Classroom building on the Auraria Campus. Built by Howell Construction and designed by Clark & Enersen, the area provides a realistic hospital environment where students can perfect their clinical skills. It features 26 simulation beds, a nurses’ station, exam rooms, an Intensive Care Unit, a homecare room, and a full-scale ambulance. Instructors can observe students through soundproof walls with one-way glass and interact with them using advanced audio-visual systems.
“I am proud to have been a part of this important project where students can learn and prepare for their careers in nursing and other in-demand healthcare fields,” said Andy Stewart, Howell vice president.
