Howell Construction recently completed the 15,775-square-foot Pipefitters Apprentice School Expansion in Denver, a design-build project with partner Archcentric.
Pipefitters Local Union #208 has been providing industry training programs since 1902. This project consisted of expanding the existing campus by adding two new buildings consisting of a 5,400-square-foot lab/shop space and a 5,187-square-foot pipe welding lab open-air metal structure. Site improvements required installing a sand filtration basin and relocating and adding new water, sewer, electrical, and fire hydrants in conjunction with the widening of Broadway. As part of this project, the Howell team worked with Pipefitters students to install the in-slab hydronic radiant heat tubing.
“This project was tremendously rewarding for the design-build team. We are honored to support Pipefitters Local Union #208 in their goal of providing the most qualified and best trained Journeymen on the job site,” said Todd Berry, project sponsor for Howell Construction.
