In 2024, JE Dunn Construction is celebrating its 100th anniversary across its 26 offices nationwide. Local employees are engaging in a year-long campaign that recognizes its legacy and demonstrates gratitude for its employees, local and national clients and partners, while looking forward to its commitments for the next 100 years.
JE Dunn’s Rocky Mountain region, with offices in Denver and Colorado Springs, and a presence spanning from southern Colorado to Wyoming, will be leaning into the milestone all year. To kickoff the celebration, the team recognized its most valuable asset – its people. An internal kickoff event was hosted, creating a sense of pride among the team and excitement for what’s to come.
As part of the ongoing centennial revelry, JE Dunn’s Rocky Mountain region has plans for an external event later this year. The gathering will bring together employees, clients, and trade partners in celebration of JE Dunn’s rich history. Adding a touch of the company’s expertise, the event will be hosted at the Colorado State University Spur Hydro building at the National Western Center, which was completed by JE Dunn in 2023.
Additionally, JE Dunn will be volunteering in the community and displaying commemorative signage at its construction sites throughout the entire year. JE Dunn’s Denver office was established in 1998 and their Colorado Springs office was established in 2002 after the acquisition of Hughes Smith Construction, originally established in 1955.
“Having experienced our corporate heartbeat in Kansas City early in my career, to now leading our Rocky Mountain division, I’ve gained a unique perspective. While we are bolstered by our national strength, it’s our local roots and connections to the community that truly distinguish JE Dunn,” said Dustin Liljehorn, senior vice president, and Rocky Mountain office lead at JE Dunn. “I am excited to celebrate this significant milestone within our local community.”
The family and employee-owned company has grown by establishing authentic partnerships, providing unmatched communication, and pairing the right tools with the right people in our local communities.
Community Impact
JE Dunn is nationally recognized for giving back through JE Dunn’s Community Impact team. An average of 50,000 volunteer hours are donated by employees annually. Thanks to its employee match program, community ambassador network, and philanthropic leadership within each of its offices, the company contributed to more than 1,000 nonprofits in 2023 and donates 10% of its pre-tax net income to charities each year.
Locally, JE Dunn’s Rocky Mountain offices saw 130 employees participate in 36 volunteer events with 28 various organizations, contributing over 1,400 volunteer hours in 2023. The group raised funds for local charities, including Junior Achievement, United Way, Boys and Girls Clubs, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and Food Bank of the Rockies. As one of JE Dunn’s largest fundraisers in Colorado, the Denver office hosted its 7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament last year, raising a record donation of $105,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver.
A national Centennial initiative, Building a Legacy: A Century of Generosity, kicked off in 2024, extending JE Dunn’s community impact, and celebrating the employees and communities that have been foundational to the company’s success and longevity. Ten worthy organizations will be selected by employees to receive a gift of $100,000 to empower their work in the communities where JE Dunn employees live, work, and build, for a total impact of $1 million nationwide. More information about this important effort will be shared in 2024.
