On Saturday, July 23, Global Village Academy Northglenn (GVAN) celebrated the grand opening of its new K-8 bilingual charter
school. Representatives of JHL Constructors, Diversified Consulting Solutions, Choice Advisors, and DLR Group joined the ribbon cutting alongside faculty, students, parents, staff, and community members of GVAN.

“Building for the Colorado community is the foundation of JHL,” says Sr. Project Manager James Torres. “Working with such a great team is how we get to such great outcomes, and we were honored to deliver such a beautiful and impactful building.”

The new 68,000-square-foot two-story school, located at 12415 Grant Street in Thornton, serves students in kindergarten through 8th grade and has room for 850 students. The school and includes classrooms, art rooms, a technology lab, music room, library, and administrative spaces.

According to DLR Group, the design firm for the project, a cafeteria and warming kitchen are located on the first floor, adjacent to the hard court and field play. This location promotes easy transitions of students from lunch to recess activities without impacting other educational spaces. The second floor features two science rooms, a STEAM classroom, a tech lab, and an art room.

Since 2011, GVAN has cultivated a community that supports and values diverse cultures and education innovation. Students immerse themselves in international studies and global perspectives and become fluent in English and a second language of their choice.
