There was a big announcement made today in the Denver CRE community. Katie Kruger, a well-respected and influential leader in the metro Denver business community, will join CBRE as market leader for Colorado and senior managing director, effective Nov. 22. In this role, Ms. Kruger will oversee all Advisory lines of business in the state, including leasing, sales, debt and structured finance, valuation and property management. She will oversee CBRE’s five Colorado offices, including downtown Denver, the Denver Tech Center, Boulder, Colorado Springs and Fort Collins.

Ms. Kruger joins CBRE from the Denver Metro Commercial Association of Realtors (DMCAR), where she served as CEO for the past nine years, representing the interests of commercial real estate professionals across Colorado. Under her leadership, DMCAR increased revenue and membership 50 percent and 40 percent, respectively, ultimately becoming the largest local commercial real estate industry group in the U.S. with 2,000 members. As a public policy advocate, Ms. Kruger helped pass some of the most supportive pieces of commercial real estate legislation in Colorado, including the Broker Lien Law in 2012.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Kruger advised developers, builders and government officials across the country in the creation of smart master-planned communities with roles at Strada Advertising, McStain Neighborhoods and Norris Design. She replaces Pete Schippits, who was promoted to regional president, West Region, for CBRE in August.

“Katie is respected across the region for her tactical mindset, unwavering grit and ability to get things done. As many of our clients stand at a significant inflection point for their industries, Katie’s collaborative, future-focused perspective will be a tremendous asset,” said Mr. Schippits.
