Boulder Engineer and Business Owner Named President of ACEC Colorado Board of Directors

DENVERThe American Council of Engineering Companies of Colorado (ACEC Colorado) recently elected Nancy Clanton, PE, as president of its 2017-18 Board of Directors.

Clanton is president and owner of Clanton & Associates, Inc., located in Boulder, Colo. She has been a member of ACEC Colorado since 1998 and served on the ACEC Colorado Board of Directors since 2014. As a board member, Clanton previously served as secretary/treasurer and vice president.

“Nancy is committed to advancing awareness of the consulting engineering profession,” said Marilen Reimer, ACEC Colorado executive director. “Her leadership style fosters collaboration among stakeholders and encourages an innovative and holistic approach to meeting the expectations of owners and the public.”

Clanton is a national and international speaker on topics relating to sustainable design, energy efficiency, and light pollution, and has been an instructor at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She is a fellow of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), Rocky Mountain Institute and the United States Green Building Council. She served as the lighting group leader for the 2009 C40 meeting in Seoul, South Korea; was topic editor for the Ninth Edition IESNA Lighting Handbook, which was responsible for the production of the IES Recommended Practices on Outdoor Lighting; and served as group leader for the Greening of the White House initiative.

Clanton earned a Bachelor of Science in architectural engineering from University of Colorado at Boulder.
