Livable Cities Studio Expands Capabilities with New Landscape Architect
Livable Cities Studio, an urban design and landscape architecture studio committed to building cities for lived experiences that celebrate social connection and inclusivity, is expanding its Denver-based team with the addition of a new landscape architect. Melanie Schroeder’s national and international experience in landscape architecture spans both public and private sectors including streetscapes, parks, and playgrounds.
“As we continue to grow our portfolio and work on large-scale projects in both the public and private realm, we’re excited to bring creative and passionate new talent to our growing team,” said Meredith Wenskoski, president at Livable Cities Studio. “Melanie’s passion and drive for creating meaningful spaces for local communities, and the way her designs celebrate and recognize each site’s history and context make her a great addition to Livable Cities Studio.”
Before moving to Colorado in 2019, Schroeder spent three years in New Zealand improving public spaces by developing and renovating parks and playgrounds and improving the community activation of open spaces. Leaning on her international experience in the public realm, Schroeder will focus on both private and civic projects for Livable Cities Studio, including the master plan development to revitalize Walker-Branch Park in Edgewater and Lakewood, Connecting Auraria in Denver, and numerous urban infill public realm projects. Most recently, Schroeder worked with another Denver-based firm on projects including DaVinci Park in Evans, Colorado and Garrison Street Paseo in Arvada, Colorado.
“I was drawn to Livable Cities Studio ever since arriving in Colorado. Their commitment to addressing the complex needs of contemporary cities and create places for people and human experience is well aligned to my own values,” said Schroeder. “Thoughtfully matching physical design interventions with meaningful experiential outcomes is an important aspect of any successful project. Livable Cities Studio continually illustrates their aptitude at this by focusing each project on the people who will use the space.”
A licensed landscape architect, Schroeder has a Master of Landscape Architecture and a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Minnesota.
