4240 Architecture Announces New Principal
4240 Architecture, a Denver-based, full-service architecture firm dedicated to designing projects that celebrate the unique spirit and story of its place, announced the recent appointment of DJ Gratzer to principal.
“With DJ’s deep-rooted history spanning 14 years within our firm, this milestone signifies not only his individual achievement working on our client’s most complex sites, but also a testament to our team’s enduring culture of growth and opportunity,” says Michele Raftery, principal at 4240.
Throughout DJ’s journey with us, his unwavering dedication and invaluable contributions have played a pivotal role in shaping who we are. DJ’s story began at 4240 directly following his graduate education at University of Colorado Denver and undergraduate education at University of Colorado Boulder. DJ’s comes from a construction background in Arizona, and brings a unique perspective to each project, merging a deep passion for nature and contextual based solutions.
As part of the workforce during the great recession, DJ contributed to 4240’s typological expansion over the last 15 years which now includes extensive student housing and higher education work, and is comprised of a mix of new build, addition and renovation projects. DJ was also deeply engaged on a unique assisted living project in Vermont, which elevated the experience for seniors who needed care in the community setting. This project received top honors from AIA National’s Design for Aging program as an acknowledgement of what a tremendously unique and catalytic project it was. DJ’s continues to be involved in 4240’s legacy work in mountain and resort hospitality, with active projects in Vail, Telluride, and Aspen.
“As DJ steps into his new role as principal, we are excited by his wealth of experience in this firm, our client’s typologies, and strong building science and technical background that will continue to propel our organization forward. We are immensely proud to have DJ as an integral part of our team, and we eagerly anticipate the positive impact he will continue to make in this new capacity,” adds Matt Cecere, principal at 4240.
Please join us in celebrating this momentous occasion and in extending our best wishes to DJ as he embarks on this exciting new chapter with 4240.
