Confluent Development Announces Strategic Promotions

Confluent Development, a national full-service real estate investment and development firm, is pleased to announce the promotion of two team members, Lauren Selinger and Jill Lezama. Aligning with its long-term strategic plans and business goals, Confluent is making continued internal investments in its team members, further strengthening the foundation of its core real estate development platforms.

Lauren Selinger, corporate attorney, has been promoted to general counsel, and Jill Lezama has been promoted to controller, vice president of accounting and finance.

Selinger has been with Confluent for nearly six years as the firm’s corporate attorney and is seasoned in all aspects of advocating the team in development transactions, entitlement matters, leasing, loans and closings. Selinger’s business background brings more than 16 years of legal practice in the areas of real estate, construction, litigation, business, and corporate work to the team at Confluent Development. Selinger has extensive experience in commercial leasing, commercial and residential foreclosures, loan workouts, lending, and various other real estate and business matters. Prior to joining Confluent, Selinger was a partner with Gelman & Norberg, LLC as a commercial real estate attorney and residential real estate attorney where she actively represented clients in complex business and real estate transactions and all types of civil litigation.

As general counsel, Selinger will oversee Confluent’s legal activities, policies and risk assessment, and she will focus on creating solutions to simplify the support for Confluent’s development team, including automating acquisition, disposition and leasing processes.

After joining Confluent in 2021 as senior director and controller, Lezama rapidly ascended to a leadership position as controller and vice president of accounting and finance based on her exceptional experience and unique leadership qualities. Lezama is a CPA, bringing 20 years of progressive accounting experience across multiple industries to the Confluent team, whereby she has a proven track record of successful acquisition integration, shared service reorganization and process improvement, ensuring financial results are completed timely, efficiently, and accurately.

As vice president of accounting and finance, Lezama is responsible for the oversight of corporate and development accounting, tax, corporate finance, human resources, treasury, and accounts payable and receivable functions. She also directs the maintenance of HR and accounting systems and internal controls. Lezama reports to the CFO/CIO and is responsible for the strategic leadership of multiple teams, in addition to regular touchpoints with investors, lenders, executives and business partners who are integral to moving Confluent’s strategic business plans forward.

 

Ware Malcomb Promotes David Nighswonger to Director, Regional Operations in Denver

Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, announced David Nighswonger, PE, has been promoted to director, regional operations based in the firm’s Denver office. In the role, Nighswonger will oversee operations for the civil engineering team firmwide.

“David has excelled at the firm, exemplifying strong leadership and business acumen that contributes directly to the growth of our civil engineering practice,” said Chris Strawn, principal for Ware Malcomb. “He has continued to improve the efficiencies of the department across the firm, with the right focus on processes and talent.”
Since joining Ware Malcomb in 2016, Nighswonger has managed numerous civil engineering projects and has overseen the preparation of construction documents and construction administration for the firm’s public, commercial, residential, education and retail projects. He has been instrumental in expanding the civil engineering team from having team members in three offices to team members in twelve in just the past four years.
A registered Civil Engineer in Colorado, Nighswonger brings more than 31 years of civil engineering experience to the team, including fifteen years serving as a Development Engineering Manager and Public Works Director for the city of Thornton, a city of more than 140,000 residents. In his career, he has managed and directed a wide variety of capital improvement projects including roadways, drainage, water distribution, and wastewater collection. His experience includes leading public meetings, and working with neighborhood groups, stakeholders, permitting agencies, and public agencies such as metro wastewater, urban drainage, and school districts.

Nighswonger has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Southern Methodist University.

Design Workshop, an international landscape architecture, planning and urban design firm, announced that Jake Sippy has been promoted to technical principal in Denver.

As a Technical Principal, Jake Sippy’s oversight and guidance focuses on design software, documentation and construction implementation. He brings rigor and technical acuity, coupled with an innate ability for community facilitation and education, providing a holistic approach to all of his projects.
