McWhinney President & COO Ray Pittman to Assume CEO Role

McWhinney announced that President and Chief Operating Officer Ray Pittman will take up the company’s chief executive officer role. Co-Founder Chad McWhinney will step back from day-to-day operations and transition to executive chairman for the company. Co-Founder Troy McWhinney will remain in his current role as senior board member and chief investment officer.

Pittman joined McWhinney in 2019 after previously serving as global chief client officer for CBRE, as well as serving as CEO for the company’s diverse business operations in Australia and New Zealand.

In his role as President and COO of McWhinney, Pittman has managed the company’s day-to-day operations and led the development and execution of the company’s strategic plan, growing investor returns and long-term portfolio value. His focus has been on optimizing the company’s operating capabilities, employing strategies to maximize customer and investor satisfaction, and attracting, developing, and retaining top talent for the firm.

“With our commitment to the company’s continued growth and success, the board and I felt it was a strong time to build upon our positive momentum and transition Ray Pittman into the CEO role to lead the business forward,” said Chad McWhinney. “We have great confidence in Ray’s leadership abilities and experience, alongside my focus on the strategic vision of the company including new markets and new product types. Chad McWhinney co-founded the real estate investment company in 1991 with his brother Troy, who serves as the company’s chief investment officer. In his 30 years as CEO, McWhinney has planned and developed over 6,000 acres of land and over 10 million square feet of office, industrial, medical, retail, hospitality and residential properties, including more than 3,000 units of multifamily apartment homes.

Kairoi Management Announces Promotions of Kari Warren to COO and Tammy Freiling to CFO

Kairoi Residential, a premier vertically integrated multifamily investment, development, and property management company, has announced the promotions of Kari Warren to chief operating officer of property management and Tammy Freiling to chief financial officer of property management. Both joined the management company in 2017 at its inception as vice presidents and have been spearheading the growth and success of Kairoi management since that time.

“We are now managing for some of the most sophisticated institutional investors in the multifamily industry,” said Tammy. “We aren’t seeking to be the biggest manager of luxury multifamily real estate, just the best.”

Kari has over 20 years of experience, with a background in marketing, branding, and customer service in the residential and interior design industries. She previously served as head of operations for Anyone Home, and as a lead executive in charge of strategic marketing, branding and communications for both BRE Properties and AvalonBay Communities, Inc.

Tammy has over 20 years of experience in investor reporting, debt compliance, monthly and quarterly financial statements, system implementation, staff development, and audit and tax coordination and is a CPA. Prior to joining Kairoi, Tammy held roles at USAA and EY.

 

Colorado’s Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa Promotes Three

The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa Avon, Vail Valley is excited to announce that it has promoted Wendy Mallas to the position of director of sales & marketing. The award-winning resort has also promoted Jing Butler to serve as associate director of sales and hired Scott Copertino to serve as dining room & banquet manager.

Mallas joined The Westin Riverfront team in 2017 as a leisure sales manager and has worked her way up to director of Leisure Sales and now director of Sales & Marketing. A graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, Mallas previously spent nearly 20 years launching new properties for ski industry leader Vail Resorts, finally overseeing the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Vail. She also served as part of their international sales team.

Since joining The Westin Riverfront team, Mallas has been key to driving strong leisure sales through multiple avenues, including spearheading the creation of the Westin RECOVER program, a partnership with multiple Vail Valley medical facilities to host medical tourists. She also serves as the consortia liaison for the hotel’s affiliations with Marriott’s Luminous Program, American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts, and Travel Leaders Select Programs. A member of the Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association and the Vail Valley Partnership, Mallas is active in the Vail Valley community, volunteering with several non-profits, including the Vail Valley Salvation Army and Vitalant-Colorado.

Butler joined The Westin Riverfront in 2013 as an executive meetings manager and has worked her way up to sales manager, senior sales manager and now associate director of Sales. Butler is a Certified Hospitality Sales Professional who previously worked in sales & events at The Arrabelle at Vail Square and the Aloft Charleston Airport & Convention Center in South Carolina. A graduate of Switzerland’s IHTTI School of Hotel Management, Butler is known for her focus on securing group business and passion for taking care of clients.

Copertino comes to The Westin Riverfront from the Grand Hyatt Vail, where he most recently served as national sales manager. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, he previously spent more than nine years at the Vail Cascade Resort & Spa, rising from front office manager to serve as the director of banquets.

NexCore Names Jason Beck Senior Vice President of Real Estate Development – Life Sciences

National healthcare real estate developer NexCore Group announced that life science real estate veteran Jason M. Beck has joined its firm as senior vice president real estate development – life sciences.

Mr. Beck’s role is to grow Denver-based NexCore’s healthcare real estate activities in the life sciences sector. His expertise in the areas of life sciences property management and development, construction and operations complement NexCore’s nationwide strategy to grow in this important sector.
