Affordable Housing Nonprofit Rocky Mountain Communities Hires D. Dontae Latson as New CEO

Denver-based Rocky Mountain Communities (RMC) recently announced Dontae Latson as the new chief executive officer. Latson has a strong record as a proven leader who is passionate about serving marginalized communities and bringing people together through genuine connections. Latson brings to the organization more than 20 years of experience in non-profits and 15 years as an executive leader.  As Chief Executive Officer, Latson will provide organizational strategy including creating a visionary roadmap for engaging community stakeholders through relationship-building and collective impact.

Prior to joining Rocky Mountain Communities, Latson served as the president and CEO of YWCA McLean County in Illinois for six years. Latson was also the director of Behavioral Healthcare Services Greater Charlotte Market at Presbyterian Hospital in North Carolina, agency director at the Union County Department of Social Service in North Carolina, and was the director of Adult Services at Carolinas Medical Center, Randolph in North Carolina, to name a few past roles.

Latson earned his Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD and a Master of Science in Social Science Administration with a dual concentration in Management/Community Development from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Latson grew up in Seat Pleasant, MD, where he was raised by his grandmother and family. In 2000, he relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina. Latson moved to Illinois in 2013.

 

Cushman & Wakefield Hires New Project Manager

Cushman & Wakefield recently added Marco Arguelles, project manager, to its Denver Project and Development Services Group. Marco will work on various project types and focuses on providing great value to clients with great energy and excitement.

Marco has five years of experience in an owner’s rep. project management role and has also worked in the San Diego and San Francisco Bay Area markets. Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Marco served as a project manager with CBRE’s Project Management Team in Denver and has represented both landlords and tenants. Marco has a bachelors in Environmental Design from the University of Colorado-Boulder and a Masters of Urban Planning from San Jose State University.

 

Leading Capital Markets Equity, Debt & Structured Finance Team Joins Cushman & Wakefield In Denver

Cushman & Wakefield also welcomed brokerage professionals Baxter Fain, Christina Grimme, Ryan Zikas, and Colby Hoagland who join the firm’s Denver office as the Capital Markets Equity, Debt & Structured Finance team.

Baxter Fain, an industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate, joins the firm as executive managing director in Capital Markets with a focus on finance. Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Mr. Fain was the managing director – head of Capital Markets at JLL (NYSE: JLL) in Denver. Brokerage professionals Ryan Zikas and Christina Grimme also join Cushman & Wakefield from JLL in Denver.

Mr. Fain leads his team in offering full spectrum financial services, providing both domestic and international clients unsurpassed customized advisory and integrated capital solutions for all assets classes. These services include the structuring and arranging/placement of debt and equity for new acquisitions and recapitalizations, repositioning strategies and note sales.

Newmark Knight Frank Promotes Brie Martin to Associate Director of Management Services

Newmark Knight Frank (“NKF”) is pleased to announce the promotion of Brie Martin to associate director of management services. In this role, Ms. Martin is responsible for NKF’s Denver property management operations and personnel. She also collaborates with leasing and investment sales professionals to grow the company’s management portfolio, cross-sell NKF services and advise building owners on strategies for maximizing the value of their properties.

“Brie has been widely recognized by her colleagues and clients for her exceptional ability to lead the Denver market and her respective teams,” noted NKF Regional Director of Management Services, Josh Shoemaker. “She will work under my direction, partnering with local NKF brokerage leadership to strengthen and expand client relationships throughout the region.”

Previously, Ms. Martin served as a senior property manager, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day property management operations of more than 1.2 million square feet of commercial real estate. In this role, she was responsible for client relationship management and communication, oversight of the physical management of buildings, tenant relations, financial reporting, assisting and supervising capital projects and tenant improvement work, vendor coordination, preventative maintenance and lease administration services.

Since re-joining the firm last March, Ms. Martin’ was awarded the NKF 2018 Excellence in Leadership award for Property Management. Consistently aware of the role that teamwork plays day in and day out in our profession, Ms. Martin constantly seeks to improve her team and inspire them to do better and reach higher every day.

A licensed real estate professional and accredited LEED Green Associate, Ms. Martin earned a Masters of curriculum and instruction degree from Denver University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Pepperdine University.

 

The RMH Group Welcomes Alberto Barrios Marquez to the Firm

The RMH Group announced the addition of Alberto Barrios Marquez, P.E., ATD, LEED AP, as a senior electrical engineer to the firm. Mr. Marquez is a senior electrical engineer with extensive experience designing effective lighting and resilient electrical systems for complex, mission-critical projects including data centers, laboratories, corporate campuses and manufacturing facilities. His Accredited Tier Designer designation from the Uptime Institute reflects his thorough knowledge of high-reliability, mission-critical facilities. In addition to working as a consulting engineer for more than 19 years, Mr. Marquez also served as a plans examiner for a local municipality. Mr. Marquez earned a B.S. degree as electrical and mechanical engineer from the University of Guadalajara.

“Alberto adds a tremendous amount of mission-critical planning and design expertise to our team,” said Eric Bunce, RMH vice president and team leader. “With his depth of knowledge in mission-critical systems, Alberto will help further expand RMH’s presence in the growing data center and telecommunications sectors.”
